We certainly live in a fabulous part of the world. But how often do you really get out and explore its many treasures? Well, move over Geocaching because there is a new app in town, and it looks like a bucket-load of fun for families.

The event aims to flip the script on mobile technology and use it for good, getting you out and about as a family, solving clues, exploring our beautiful backyard and playing for prizes. What’s more, it will help support the Leukaemia Foundation with event proceeds donated to this worthwhile cause.

Find the Treasure is the brainchild of husband and wife team Gareth and Ayrial. Both passionate about the Sunshine Coast and the outdoors, they created this modern-day adventure app to turn your weekend into something fun, memorable and rewarding.

“We spend many hours designing the quests so that they are fun, immersive and challenging. We don’t want to give it all away, but they may include riddles, games, crosswords and trivia,” says Gareth.

Ayrial continues, “It’s like Geocaching in that it encourages you to get outside and explore but you also have to solve quests (puzzles, crytpograms, riddles, who am I etc…) to find the location, rather than the coordinates being given to you. It also has live leaderboards to track your progress and a super accurate location service – the first of its kind!”

How does Find The Treasure work?

Download the app to your phone, register and purchase a pass for the event of your choice. When the event starts, follow the clues to journey through a series of quests to discover new and exciting places and have your brain tested by creative challenges you’ll just love. Along the way, you’ll discover coupon deals for local cafes and businesses to use during your adventure. If you conquer all of the quests in the allotted time, you go in a draw to win the treasure!

The first Sunshine Coast event runs from April 21st to May 7th.

The event may include hinterland, rainforest and beach locations. So, whilst it is family friendly and all the quests will be on designated walking paths, some might be a little tricky to navigate with a stroller.
